There are many fad diets that claim to help you lose large amounts of weight in short periods of time. The GM Cabbage diet is one of them, but the difference is that real people have gotten good results with this routine.
What does the GM diet entail?
The main component of the GM diet is a fat-free cabbage soup that you consume every day during the seven days the diet lasts. There are other specific high fiber, low fat-foods on the diet which you are instructed to eat on different days. One of the best things about the GM diet is that you are able to consume unlimited quantities of the listed foods, including the cabbage soup.
This diet aims specifically to make sure that you don’t feel the usual diet pangs associated with dieting. Keep in mind that you want to drink as much water as possible, and you’ll need to cut out alcohol completely during the diet’s duration.
Where did the GM diet originate?
The origin of the GM diet is somewhat of a mystery. It is said that it may have been created by General Motors in an effort to provide their employees with a nutritious diet to follow. There are other rumors that the diet was developed with the United States Food and Drug Association (FDA).
The important thing to remember is that this diet was created to help people shed large amounts of water weight within a week. Losing water weight is not the same thing as dropping weight by reducing the amount of fat on your body. To do that you will need to commit a much longer period of time and hard work.
The GM cabbage diet will definitely leave you feeling lighter by the end of the week, however!
What you will need to make the soup:
- Vegetable broth or water (23 ounces)
- Large onions (6 ounces)
- Green peppers (2 ounces)
- Whole tomatoes (3 ounces)
- Cabbage (1 ounce)
- Celery (1 bushel)
How to make your soup:
Chop all vegetables, making sure you peel onions first.
Combine celery, green peppers, and onions to sautee.
Add tomatoes, cabbage, and stock or water to boil.
Season with salt, pepper, or hot sauce to taste.
Get ready to follow the diet:
DAY 1: Cabbage soup and fruits only. Try to include melon in your first day choices.
DAY 2: Cabbage soup and vegetables. It’s recommended to eat a boiled potato at the beginning of day. Include any vegetables you choose, but no oil allowed for cooking.
DAY 3: Cabbage soup, fruits, and vegetables. Avoid bananas and vegetables high in starch.
DAY 4: Cabbage soup, bananas, and milk. Limit your intake to eight bananas and three glasses of milk throughout the day.
DAY 5: Cabbage soup, tomatoes, lean protein (chicken, fish, turkey), and rice. Be sure to drink a lot of water (twelve or more glasses) to flush out your system this day.
DAY 6: Cabbage soup, beef, rice, and vegetables. Limit rice intake to one cup.
DAY 7: Cabbage soup, fruits, vegetables, and natural juices.
During the whole week, stay hydrated, and when you have the choice for rice, stick with brown rice, as it’s healthier. Time to try it out for yourself!
